The impeccable musical taste of
brilliant young Tommy Garrett has resulted in hit sounds for such noted
artists as Bobby Vee, Timi Yuro and Gary Lewis. He has been associated
with the music business since the age of 15 when he started doing
promotion for a record company in Dallas. From promotion he expanded
into the record sales and at the age of 17, became a disc jockey at
KDUB, Lubbock, Texas. From there, he moved to Wichita Falls, where he
had his own TV show and ran a teenage night club. By this time he was
ready for Hollywood, and soon became affiliated with Liberty Records,
where his great enthusiasm and ability led him to the field of record
production. Liberty gave him the chance to produce the late Johnny
Burnett's hit record "Dreamin" and thus another phase was added to Tommy
Garrett's career, and the hits kept rolling in.Tommy now presents the
exciting and enlightening sound of his "50 Guitars". He admits that the
potential of the guitar has always fascinated him and he frequently has
mused upon the concept of recording as many as 50 in a single group. It
was a challenging idea, and with the aid of famed musical arranger,
Ernie Freeman, Tommy realized his dream and the incredible sound of "50
Guitars was born. Much of the solo work is done by Tommy Tedesco, one of
the finest guitarists in the business. In addition to creating and
producing "50 Guitars", Garrett writes much of their music. His
versatility is a tremendous asset to the group and has played a large
role in their success. At the present Tommy and the "50 Guitars" are
mainly concerned with maintaining the high quality of their albums and
Garrett's integrity, and the exciting sounds he produces—they can't
miss.
